Christmas is Coming

Time to buy an Advent Calendar.

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas,
Everywhere you go!
Take a look in the five and ten glistening once again,
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow!

It is just us, or does Christmas seem to start earlier and earlier each year?! Well we don’t like to think about Christmas until after Bonfire Night. That’s when it’s acceptable to mention the word Christmas. And when we can have a mince pie or two…

So what is Advent all about, and what is an Advent Calendar?

The word Advent comes from the latin term Adventus, meaning ‘coming’ or ‘visit’. It is a season in the Christian year lasting for around 4 weeks. It begins four Sundays before Christmas and ends on Christmas Eve. The Christian season of Christmas actually begins on Christmas Eve. It lasts for twelve days, ending on January 6. The time before Christmas is Advent, a season of preparation for Christmas.

An advent calendar can be used to count the days of Advent, in anticipation of Christmas.

As the first Sunday of Advent varies, most Advent calendars start on the 1st December.

If would like to celebrate Advent, we have a vast selection of calendars available to purchase online.
